Bombay Duck

Harpadon nehereus

Despite the name, it's a fish! A delicacy when dried or fried, and one of India's most iconic seafood exports.

Bombay Duck (Harpadon nehereus) is a soft-bodied fish found in the Arabian Sea, particularly off the coast of Maharashtra and Gujarat. It is most famous in its dried form but is also exported frozen. When fried, it becomes crispy and flavourful — a beloved delicacy across South Asia.
